WELCOME TO FRUŠKA GORA / MOUNT OF FRANKS

Departure from the hotel. Drive to Sremski Karlovci, heart of Serbian spirituality in Vojvodina during the 18-19. Century. Town has beautiful old city core built in baroque style. Among many exquisite sights of Sremski Karlovci we single out: The Patriarchal Residence, Gymnasium, Four Lions Fountain, St Nicolas Church, Church of Holy Trinity, Stefaneum palace.
Drive along the slopes of Fruska Gora. Not maybe the tallest, but the biggest mountain in Vojvodina. Fruska Gora is known also as Serbian Holy mountain, because of the many Orthodox monasteries that are hidden in many secluded valleys of the mountain. Drive to Grgeteg Monastery.
By legend monastery was founded by one of the greatest Serbian medieval warriors Vuk the Fiery Dragon. However the greatest treasure of the monastery is sacred icon of Three-handed Theotokos. Many famous priest were bishops of this monastery: Isaija Djakovic, Ilarion Ruvarac…
Drive to Perkov Salas – the best farmstead on Fruska Gora for big organic lunch. Return to Novi Sad. End of program.
